Cumin is an ancient spice used since biblical times.
The health benefits of Cumin include its ability to aid in digestion, improve immunity, insomnia, respiratory disorders, asthma, bronchitis and the common cold.
Cumin Growing Information
Cumin Seeds can be harvested in late autumn when the plant starts to die off.
They can be ground to a powder or used whole.
Plant in an open sunny position in well drained soil.
Soak 1/2 cup basmati rice for 30 minutes.
Heat 1 tbsp. peanut oil in a saucepan over medium heat, add 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds with 1/2 tsp ground black pepper. These should sizzle when added.
Add the Rice and 1/2 water to the saucepan, cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
When cooked turn off heat and rest for 5 minutes.
Serve with a garnish of coriander.
